GPS Units Compatible with Memory-Map
There are two reasons to connect a GPS to your PC (or Pocket PC):
Practically any GPS unit can be used for real-time positioning, but transferring routes, tracks, and waypoints to and from a GPS requires special compatibility. Many users find it easier to plan routes on the PC than to hand-key them into their GPS, and Memory-Map facilitates this. Unlike with Real-Time positioning, there is no industry-standard for transferring Waypoint, Route and Track information. Each GPS model has its own specific “Language” for communicating this information. The table below lists the GPS units compatible with Memory-Map:
NB: Due to file sizes, formats and licensing restrictions the maps themselves cannot be transferred to a GPS unit. For the ultimate in portable, detailed mapping we recommend a Pocket PC such as the GETAC Rugged PDA or WM Smartphone in combination with a Bluetooth or integrated GPS.
